Nikhil Upreti was born in Piprabhitta, Sarlahi of Eastern Nepal. Nikhil is one of the four children, two girls and two boys, of Govinda Upreti and Bhoj Kumari Upreti.Nikhil was interested in sports like football and Karate in his childhood days. When he got a black belt in Karate, he moved to Mumbai to worked in different movies as an assistant fight director and a stunt boy. Apart from working in movies he was also studying acting in which he got a Diploma in acting from Roshan Taneja’s studio, Mumbai. He likes to mention his work experience as an assistant fight director in ABCL company of Amitabh Bachhan.
Nikhil’s first Nepali film Pinjada was released in 2000 (2057 BS) in which he jumped from a seven storey building of Kantipur Complex. The stunt is believed to be the reason behind the success of the movie. Success of his second movie “Maya Ko Jaal”, released in 2001, established Nikhil as a successful actor. With more than 45 films with lead role Nikhil as established himself as one of the successful actor in Nepal.
For his role in “Haami Teen Bhai” Nikhil was awarded a Best Actor in the First National Films Award 2062. He also received Rastriya Nagarik Sworna Samman in 2063 B.S. He was also recognized for completing 51 days in theater for more than 15 movies.He used to have a site named nikhiluprety.com which was discontinued due to failure to renew registration.

dear nikhil sir my hometown is nepal but i live in india so sir i have very interset in actin i had see most flim of nepal but acting is not too good because the story of the nepali flim is taken by indian movie story/ once a day i had saw nepali flim to my indian frii all my friii laugh and say to me that this flim is like joke and say one more things to me that naver nepali will grow up so i fill very bad .sir give me once chance to play in the movie i will prove that nepal also have a good actor plz rply to me sir in nilesh_swar2000@yahoo.com
