Being blind drunk and driving after a night out: does it sound familiar? Well, in a latest news a 20 yr. old guy was not only drunk and driving he is also physically blind! Even worse, this was his second arrest in a week’s time.
According to police, the Estonian man is going to face jail this time.
“We arrested the same blind man driving his car again on Saturday in the town of Torvandi, near Tartu (in southern Estonia),” said Marge Kohtla, a spokeswoman for Tartu police district.
“He was drunk. There were three people in the car with him giving him instructions.”
She said police wanted the court to jail the man for 30 days and confiscate his car. (Reuters)
Blind and driving is not a new case, there have been a lot of incidents of blind people driving and being caught in the past. In a BBC news last year, Omed Aziz, 31, from Darlaston, West Midlands, was given 12 weeks in prison and suspended for a year.
He however was claming that he was perfectly safe and denied a charge of dangerous driving before being convicted.
In another news, dating back to 2002, police were stunned to find that a drunken woman driver in a car smash was also blind. Michelle Hughes 30, was three times over the limit when when she was driving. She was a student, registered blind and used to walk with a stick
She collided with parked car and then hit another vehicle head on (OOPS!!!). She was put on probation for six months, banned from driving for 30 months and ordered on an alcohol awareness course.
