  • Height of plagiarism in Nepali movies

A movie produced and acted by Rekha Thapa, Hifajat, is releasing soon. One of the posters featuring Rekha resembles very much with the poster of a 2007 Hollywood movie, Resident Evil: Extention.

    hifajat

Nagariknews says that there are only seven differences in the two posters. I can see that, apart from the face and some minor variations in dress there is nothing much difference between the two posters. Oh yes, the “Las Vegas” has transformed itself to “Kathmandu”!

  • Paris Hilton for president – spoof ad

Paris Hilton wants to paint the White House pink if elected. She was declaring her desire to campaign against “that wrinkly white-haired guy” referring to the Republican candidate John McCain. That was in fact response to the controversial use of her image in a campaign television spot last week. The ad compared Democratic rival Barack Obama to Hilton and Britney Spears, suggesting Obama was no more than a celebrity candidate unready to lead the nation.

Here is her video ad by Paris Hilton posted in funnyordie.com.

“Hey America, I’m Paris Hilton and I’m a celebrity too. Only I’m not from the olden days and I’m not promising change like that other guy. I’m just hot!

“But then that wrinkly white-haired guy used me in his campaign ad, which I guess means I’m running for president. So thanks for the endorsement white-haired dude, and I want America to know I’m, like, totally ready to lead.”

McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said Hilton appears to support his candidate’s “all of the above” energy solution (AP).

I posted some ads photos in this previous post. Now I am posting some text ads from newspapers and posters. In contrast to the photo post in which the ads were creative and artistic these text ads are more likely to be most non-creative and dumb.

  • The Nissan boobs commercial (Update)

This commercial really helps you understand the workings of vehicle suspension. It is better than any mechanical engineering books you will come accross!

It seems Nissan might have copied the concept from a Jeep Ad. that came out a little before (thanks to comment in Digg)

  • Free drinks if you watch ads

Thirsty Japanese will soon be able to drink coffee or other drinks at a low price or even for free – as long as they watch a 30-second ad on the vending machine.

Vending machine operator Apex Corp will start a service next month to turn its machines into a new medium for advertisers, who will pick up the partial or full cost of the non-alcoholic drinks.

Apex runs 35,000 vending machines across Japan that serve drinks in paper cups, generally priced at 70 to 120 yen (60 cents to one dollar) a cup.

Under the “MediCafe” project, the vending machine will play an advertiser’s video for around the 30 seconds it takes to pour the drink and dispense a paper cup with an advertisement printed on it.

“We will select the locations of vending machines which would best suit the customers targetted by advertisers,” said an Apex company official.

Apex said some of its vending machines are at public places ideal for selective advertising such as supermarkets, amusement parks, office buildings and schools.

The companies aim to generate about 400 million yen (3.34 million dollars) through the project in the year from June.
