Sadichha Shrestha, 19, has become this year’s Miss Nepal. Contestant no. 1 Sadichha was crowned the Darbur Special Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2010 during a special program held at Tribhuwan Army Officers Club, Bhadrakali, Kathmandu on Sept. 1, 2010.

Miss Nepal 2010 to be held on September 1, 2010
On Wednesday September 1, 2010 Miss Nepal 2010 is going to be held in Army Officer’s Club at Bhadrakali, Kathmandu. The 18 contestants will compete for the crown of one of the biggest fashion event in Nepal. There are 8 grils from Kathmandu, 3 from Lalitpur and one each from Dharan, Sunsari, Rajbiraj, Birgunj, Kabhre, Tanahun, Arghakhachi and Mahendranagar. Most of the participants this year are in Bachelor’s level.
The beauties have been in training for the last one and half months. The winner of the contest will represent Nepal in the Miss World 2010 to be held in China.

5 VOIP sites blocked in Nepal
Nepal government tried blocking explicit websites. But, till date there is no report of actual blockage of such websites. But, in a recent news, Nepal government has blocked five VOIP websites accusing them of bypassing the local telephone network. According to Nagariknews, blocked websites include nepalicalls.com, rynga.com, smartvoip.com, jumblo.com and 74.133.125.114.VOIP is the future of telecommunication. They have their share of problems but being cheap they are gaining popularity in all over the world.

Deepa Gurung awarded Sunny Girl Crown
Deepa Gurung has won the crown of Sunny Girl Teej Contest, organized by Siddha Pokhari Beauty Parlor Training Center in Bhaktapur. The beauty contest organized in the occasion of Teej had 32 participants who participated fully draped. All the contestants were in traditional Nepali dress Saree, cholo or blouse. The contest tried to differ from other contests in which short and sexy dresses are worn by the contestants.

Remisha is Miss Little Newa 2010
Rimisha Shakya won the Miss Little Newa of this year. 13 year-old Rimisha is currently in 7th grade at Heartland Children Academy. Rimisha received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with the crown. First runner up of the contest was Solina Tamrakar who received Rs. 7,000 and second runner up was Rima Maharjan who recieved Rs. 5,000.

Will Nepal Government Block Access to Temples?
In response to our post Explicit websites blocked in Nepal, an international research group has shown interest on monitoring the website blockage in Nepal.
It’s very important that we work to preserve the Internet as a medium of Free Expression and the first step is exposing and stopping governments from engaging in unlawful censorship.
The quote above is taken from an email from the research group. We will talk about it in details, with their permission, in future.
When talking about nudity and explicit contents, these things were never foreign to the people in Nepal. Many temples in Nepal have such carvings of people and animals engaged in sexual acts. These age old carvings were always open to public and the people were proud about the openness.

Miss Little Idol 2010 – Sagun
After posting the report about two kid’s talent shows in Pokhara, how can I miss another similar contest being held in Kathmandu. The contest named ‘Little Idol 2010′ was held on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Sagun Bhetwal got the title Miss Little Idol 2010 at an event held organized by Action Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
12 year old Sagun, a 6th grade student got a prize of Rs. 15,000.
First runner up, 10 year old Kyati Winterberg received Rs 10,000 and 8 year old Riya Gurung, the second runner up received Rs. 5,000.

Little Star and Little Champ 2010 held in Pokhara
Little Star Talent Contest 2010 was organized by The Looks Home today (on August 14, 2010). The winners were Simran Tamang and Samir Gurung. Sachitra Gurung and Sama Parajuli were first and second runner-ups among girls. Among boys, Dipen Gurung and Nikesh Gurung were first and second runner ups. The event was held for the kids btween 6 and 13 years of age.There were 10 boys and 22 girls contesting for the title.
That was not all. Last week, another kid’s contest was held in Pokhara. The last week’s contest title itself, ‘Little Champ 2010′ was copied from a popular Indian TV show "sa re ga ma pa Little Champ 2010". The contest was held among the kids aged between 6 and 12 years (it is the same target group as that of Little Star).

Muslim Pooja Lama – ‘show it all’ to ‘hide it all’
It was a very surprising twist in the controversial character in Nepali entertainment industry, Pooja Lama. She has changed her religion from Buddhist to Muslim and renamed herself Amna Faruki.
Pooja told that she has found some good things in Muslim religion, so she has decided to be a Muslim for the rest of her life.
A versatile personality, Pooja Lama, started her career as a model, formed a band and released music albums, and acted in movies. She has equally been in lime lights because of her controversial actions. Some of which are:
- Marriage at 18 years with Biraj Lepchan and divorce within a year (She has a son out of the marriage).
- An affair with a Newar guy while she was in Belgium. The guy’s family stopped him to go back to Belgium when he came back to Kathmandu.
- Sucide attempt when Dinesh DC after an affair and his refusal to marry her.

Sudarshan Gautam – Disabled climber to drive across Canada
Have you ever heard of Sudarshan Gautam? If you haven’t, you would better be prepared to be surprised !Sudarshan is a Nepali guy in his late twenties, planning to climb Mount Everest in 2012. But, this guy doesn’t have hands to hold the rope on those slippery slopes.
That is not all, he also drives car with his feet, does all of his everyday chores without support, and his is hot in Canadian medias these days. Sudarshan is doing fund raising for the Everest summit and other social works he want to do for Nepal.
Sudarshan is all set to drive across Canada with his feet next year, for his fund raising effort.
