Jessica Alba to wannabe plastic surgery look-alike – don’t do it
A woman in China wanted to do a plastic surgery to look like Jessica Alba and Alba responded with a positive message, after a month.I am wondering if it has anything to do with the upcoming romantic comedy movie ‘Valentine’s Day’, featuring Jessica Alba, and arriving in theaters on Feb. 12.
Last month, Xiaoqing, the 21 year-old Chinese student, told a newspaper in Beijing about her plan to undergo a surgical transformation to look like Jessica Alba. She told that her ex-boyfriend was a huge fan of Jessica Alba’s films and wanted his girlfriend to look like Alba. She wants to win back her Jessica Alba obsessed boyfriend by converting herself to Jessica Alba look-alike.

One of the world’s busiest airport? No, it is Lukla.
I came across a 2007 video in YouTube featuring Nepali airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla showing interesting plane maneuverings.
Lukla airport has a very short (475 m) runway and a steep runway slope (12 degree slope) and a scary drop off (700m) at the end of the runway. The airport might be one of the high traffic airports at such an altitude but busiest in the world … ? No way! The title of this post actually came from the uploader’s comment for the video.
One of the most busiest airports in the world! Landing and Take-off at Lukla are very interesting!!!
Here you go, the video:

Treehouse, not for fun
Wouldn’t it be fun to live in a tree-house? It is not so for Kali Bahadur Shahi, 45, of Jajarkot, Western Nepal. Shahi has been living in a house built on a tree located near the Baluwa Bazaar of Jungathapachaur village, for the last one year. Living in the tree house is more of a necessity than entertainment for him.
Shahi constructed the house on the tree as he didn’t have any land to build a house on. Now everybody in the neighborhood is happy about Shahi and his treehouse. Shahi has become the watchman for the community. From the height Shahi can see everything in the bazaar and hence the number of crime in the area has decreased substantially.

Never give up – 950 attempts to pass license test
How many times do you try again if you fail once? Three?
Five?
Ten?
Well, ten might be too much for most of us. But there are some people who NEVER give up trying.
Cha Sa-soon, 68, from South Korea who had failed the driver’s license exam 949 times but could finally pass it on the 950th attempt (AP says, police refused to confirm the number). That is about $4,200 to purchase the forms alone. She got the required 60 out of 100 marks in the written exam to pass the driver’s license exam.
It is told that she started taking the written exam since the April of 2005. She was taking the exam almost daily till she could finally pass it.
She is not finished yet though. She still has to pass the driving test to get the actual driver’s license. With such a dedication she would certainly be driving her vegetable truck in the near future.

Nibiru myth, no need to prepare for 2012
Internet is filled with Niribu, a 1976 creation of an author of speculative fiction, Zecharia Sitchin. The washingtonpost says that the viral Internet rumor is actually being circulated by pseudo-scientists, hoaxers, and movie promoters. The imaginary planet sure looks more like a publicity stunt for an upcoming movie “2012” rather than a reality. But, it sure has created enough momentum to create uneasiness among people. If there were any Nibiru heading our way some of the thousands of astronomers would already have spotted it.
Sony has set up a fake Web site for something called the Institute for Human Continuity — http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org — which uses scientific-sounding language to detail the upcoming shredding, torching and obliterating of the world from so many directions it makes your head spin ("large amounts of solar radiation will bombard the Earth and heat up the molten, semi-liquid layers beneath the lithosphere, thus allowing the crust to shift more easily"). One-legged farmer, mason, carpenter …
The guy, Narsingh Bhandari Magar (right) doesn’t even know what this sign (left) means. But, he has lost one of his leg in childhood and has trained himself to earn his living, better than not so disabled people. A teacher, Dal Bahadur Gurung of Dovan M.V. School in Dovan village of Palpa, Ghodebas in Western Nepal, was extremely surprised by the way Narsingh did his daily chores. With Gurung’s effort a documentary is prepared on Narsingh’s life and is being screened in various parts of Nepal.
Narsingh doesn’t need any support to do his daily jobs, not even a walking stick. His jobs are anything from cutting grass for his cattle, plough field with traditional halo (Narsingh is carrying one in photo), cross rivers, climb trees, and occasionally work as carpenter and mason. He can even dance on his one leg.
Narsingh is a real-life example to encourage people on dedication to work and not to dwell upon their shortcomings.

Kathmandu airport to be jammed with birds?
Do you remember the birdman Gautam Sapkota from my previous post who could mimic 151 different types of birds? The videos were convincing and the guy sure has some talent. The 25-year old now claims that he can call 175 different birds to jam the Kathmandu International Airport. The reason – the government has created hindrance in his quest for the Guinness World Records.
There are so many problems in Nepal that the Nepalese Government can’t hear a plea until somebody chooses a disruptive mean – be it a traffic jam or city closure (popularly called ‘Banda’) to attract its attention. Gautam claims to have repeatedly asked the ministries of foreign affairs, finance and forest. But nobody cared for his plea. Now, according to a National newspaper, he has given a three months ultimatum to the government to write letters to the Guinness World Records officials. With the three month’s preparation he is planning to call unspecified number of crows to jam the air traffic on the only international airport in Nepal.

75% of youth unmarried …
… due to lack of electricity in the village !
Are we going in the same direction. 16 hours of load-shedding in Nepal is taking its toll in every sectors in daily lives. There was protest from electric vehicles (Safa Tempoos), that needs an average of 18 hours to get fully charged. Other sectors like hospitals, TV channels are widely covered in news medias. Some are even demanding for load-shedding free zones. But given the situation not even a tint of silver lining can be seen.
Well, let me continue the story I started with:
The youths in a small village some 20 kms from the capital of Indian province, Uttar Pradesh, can’t find brides willing to marry them all because they don’t have electricity in the village.
“An exercise to electrify the village was initiated in 1973 and electric poles were erected with power lines. But power supply was snapped after some years due to reasons unknown to us. There are only seven poles left now in the village,” said one of the villagers. (Times of India)

How many texts do you send ?
How many text messages do you send in a day?Doses hundreds of texts a day sound strange to you? If it does, be prepared to to hear about teens sending thousands of texts a day in coming days. Looks like there are fair amount of “obsessive texters” around.
Last month Hannah Brooke, 16, was quoted as sending 260 texts a day from her three mobile phones. That was four-hour-a-day work she was obsessed with.
But for now, it is learned that a 13 year old California girl has sent in an average of about 500 text messages a day in a month’s time. Actually it was 14,528 texts in a month.
Do you know somebody who can make the news next?

Charles Sobhraj married Nihita Biswas in Kathmandu
Murder convict Charles Sobhraj on Wednesday tied the knot with his 20-year-old Nepali fiancée, Nihita Biswas, on the day of Bada Dashain, greatest festival in Nepal. Nihita, 44 years younger than Charles, married in the jail where he is kept, after being sentenced to life imprisonment in July 2004.There was no priest though the bride’s brother and mother Shakuntala Thapa turned up to show their support. Thapa, a leading lawyer, is also fighting Sobhraj’s case in Supreme Court, challenging a lower court decision that declared him guilty of the murder of an American backpacker, Connie Jo Bronzich, in 1975. (indiatimes)
Sobhraj has in the past admitting to killing several Western tourists, and is serving a life sentence for killing a Canadian tourist in Katmandu in 1975.
Agreed, love is blind and love doesn’t see the barrier of age, sex or anything. But loving and marrying a killer with approval of a lawyer mother looks a bit fishy! Many questions remain unanswered like – how could a girl fall in love with a man so famous for killing women? Or how could they fall for each other in mere few visits of 20 minutes each?
It it Charles making some plans and Nihita being used? Or is it like Charles want to settle down and Nihita want to enjoy the sudden limelight?

He is speaking in Nepali in between. But the bird’s language is universal so I don’t think translating is that much necessary.

Cow urine anti-diabetic ?
Do you know Hindu people drink cow urine for therapeutic and religious purposes? Sounds awkward but it is true. Now, researchers are trying to prove it is not a mere myth. But it is not to be forgotten that urine is a product excreted through kidneys and contains the waste metabolites. It can also contain the bacteria, bovine tuberculosis for example, and other harmful germs and metabolic products.
Researchers of pharmacology and toxicology department, Veterinary College, Hebbal, India are conducting a study on ‘pharmacological and therapeutic evaluation of cattle urine’. In the first year of study, cow urine, which has traditionally been used only in clinical applications, has shown anti-diabetic properties. (times of india)
In another news, Uttarakhand (Indian province) Government in Feb 2008 announced that it will procure cow’s urine, on the pattern similar to the procurement of milk by dairies, refine it and sell it to Ayurvedic pharmacies. (tmmkonline)
Apart from cow urnine there are some who claim magic healing powers of drinking one’s own urine, called Shivambhu. Some claim that it contains antibodies which act against the harmful diseases affecting our body, but analytically and biochemical it has not been proven so far.
In one more news from Indian Express, Mumbai edition (published on the January 14, 2000 – clip attached), states that Gomutra (gomutram) or the Cow’s Urine highly beneficial in the treatment of Asthma, headache and tooth problems.
