Tallest ever sandwich in India – Will they feed it to the poor?

Hotel Udaya Samudra in India has plans to roll out a 50-foot sandwich to beat the world record on the World Food Day, October 16th.

According to the news source, the current Guiness World Record for the tallest sandwich is 42 feet set by O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich bar of Ireland on April 25, 2003.

The official site of O’Brien however tells that they were set to beat the 2003 record (40ft) by a 45 feet sandwich on October 29, 2005. And in another news that follows:

O’Briens Sandwich Bar in Scotland has built a 45ft sandwich to beat the World’s Tallest Sandwich record set by its Irish colleagues at 40ft two years ago in Cork. In achieving the record, O’Briens raised thousands of pounds for the sandwich and coffee franchise chain’s nominated charity, the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF).

I was searching for a photo of it but couldn’t find any.

Whatever, it is going to be a BIG bite for sure. Raja Gopaal Iyer, the corporate director of the hotel is quoted saying the sandwich will be made from 45 kilograms each of cucumber and tomatoes, 40 kg each of boneless chicken, sausage, ham, apple and mayonnaise sauce. Fish would be 25 kg, lettuce leaves 75 kg, onions 35 kg and 150 kg of butter.

It is India! I bet, there will be huge number of hungry eyes eying on the big pillar to fall down so they can have a nice bite in days. Don’t you think, they could still make some headlines by feeding the poor?
