Some Chinese-made toy cars have joined the massive August 1st massive preschool toys featuring characters such as Dora the Explorer, Big Bird and Elmo (Nickelodeon and Sesame Street).
The recalled products were sold in retail stores nationwide since May 1, 2007. Paint on affected products contains lead in excess of permissible levels.
“Sarge” die-cast toys from the Pixar movie “Cars” is the latest recall due to excessive amount lead on the paint. The toy car was manufactured between May 2007 and August 2007. The 2 1/2-inch, 1-inch high car looks like a military jeep. Toys joining the second recall are:
# Barbie and Tanner - hazardous magnet
# Batman - hazardous magnet
# Polly Pockets - hazardous magnet
# Doggie Daycare - hazardous magnet
# One Piece - hazardous magnet
# Sarge cars - lead in paint (source CNN)
A total of 9 million play sets are affected because the surface paint could contain lead levels in excess of federal standard.

CEO in China Commits Suicide!
In another news, Zhang Shuhong, who ran the Lee Der Industrial, killed himself at a warehouse over the weekend, days after China announced it had temporarily banned exports by the company.
“When I rushed there around 5 p.m., police had already sealed off the area,” Southern Metropolis Daily quoted a manager surnamed Liu as saying. “I saw that our boss had two deep marks in his neck.”
Cheung, a Hong Kong resident in his 50s, treated his 5,000-odd employees well and always paid them on time. In the morning of his suicide, he greeted workers and chatted with some of them. (source CNN)
