Women all around the world are seeking equal opportunity and gender equality.

Seoul SubwayBut are they really seeking some privileged benefit over men? Does it really help the women? I don’t think so. In a recent news from South Korea, they are planning to introduce women-only cars in Seoul to make rides more comfortable for the women.

“Sexual crimes happen frequently when the cars are packed and people are pressed against each other,” the subway official said.

Nearly half the crimes reported on the city’s eight subway lines are sexual in nature, with many taking place on two lines that serve university and office districts, lawmaker Lee Jai-chang said in parliament on Monday. (Reuters)

The solution seems appropriate and much helpful for women riding the trains. But I still believe that those indecent men are winning the game.

Instead of punishing the culprits the government wants to give an easy solution. If I were to decide I would suggest that they train the commuters to deal with the aggressive males. They could provide defensive trainings and protective measures without discriminating the commuters in gender basis.

The South Korean official tell that several Tokyo train lines are trying women-only carriages to prevent groping so they want to follow it.
